Stump Removal

My parents are putting in a new carport and needed a stump removed. They wanted my husband to cut it low to the ground then they are going to have someone grind it.

Something in the stump kept dulling my husband’s saw. We thought it was metal because the stump had blue coloring about the 30 year growth line.

Whatever the metal was it had disintegrated. It had been there for 60 years. According to the growth rings the metal had been placed there around 60 years ago when the tree was around 30 years old. The tree was dead five years ago and was a danger to all who walked underneath or parked nearby. My dad had it cut down for that reason.
The metal was not what was dulling the saw. It was a rock in the stump.
