This morning I decided to come up with my own flavoring syrup for my coffee. I don’t think I will ever buy it from the store again. I love a peppermint mocha latte so that is the first syrup I worked on.
I gathered a few ingredients to work on 3 different syrups today. I wanted to make vanilla, peppermint mocha and chai syrups today. I will share the recipes for the vanilla and chai syrups another day.
For the peppermint mocha I came up with the following recipe. I kept it small because I wanted to make sure I liked it before made a bigger batch.
PEPPERMINT MOCHA SYRUP
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 tablespoon cocoa
- 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
Combine the above ingredients in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil while whisking. Once sugar is dissolved turn the burner to low heat and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes. Turn the burner off And let cool completely before pouring into a jar. It will last up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
